Dr. Navin Kumar Maini

Dr. Navin Kumar Maini is a visionary leader in India’s financial sector. He served as Deputy Managing Director of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). He is currently the Chairman of Capital Small Finance Bank.

At SIDBI, he played a pivotal role in shaping MSME financing policies, advancing risk management practices, and promoting sustainable finance initiatives.

Dr. Maini’s career spans extensive experience in banking, beginning with six years at UCO Bank and seven years at IDBI Bank, where he held senior managerial. He further distinguished himself as Chief Executive Officer of the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), spearheading efforts to provide collateral-free credit to small businesses.

Under his leadership, SIDBI expanded into niche financing areas, including sustainable finance and energy efficiency schemes for small industries. He also played a key role in enhancing MSME financial infrastructure, including the development of the NSE Trade Receivables Engine for E-Discounting (NTREES), a real-time platform to address delayed payments to MSME suppliers.

Dr. Maini has contributed extensively to corporate governance through board roles at institutions such as India SME Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd, SIDBI Venture Capital Ltd, and the Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN).
